Botox Treatment

Botox (the cosmetic and medical form of botulinum toxin) is a substance that has been known to humankind for over a century, and has been used for medical purposes for more than 50 years. Originally, it was used to correct strabismus (lazy eye), blepharospasm and cervical dystonia.

Since 2002, when botox was approved for relaxing frown lines on the forehead and between the eyes, it has been used to treat over 11 million patients, with an extremely high patient-satisfaction rate. Botox has also been used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), since 2004. Contradicting what a lot of people think, Botox doesn’t paralyse the facial muscles, although this can happen if someone has too much.

A good surgeon such as Mr Hassan Shaaban will aim to administer just the right amount to keep a natural look and still allow limited muscle activity. Injected properly, Botox is not supposed to removed all expression, but simply make a patient look more relaxed and youthful.

When you are first considering Botox, you should be keeping in mind your safety when you decide to where to go. An experienced surgeon or practitioner should be high up on your list of priorities.

Choosing a well-qualified surgeon such as Mr Hassan Shaaban is absolutely paramount when ensuring your safety and results. Mr Hassan Shaaban sees his patients at PHI Clinic, London, and also in Liverpool.

You will usually be having your Botox treatment with Mr Hassan Shaaban in PHI Clinic, London. The areas that are to be injected will be cleansed, and in some rare cases a topical anesthetic will be used.

The Botox is injected into the desired areas; typically the injection patterns will include three to five areas on either side of the forehead and two to three on each eye area. The amount of areas that are injected will be dependent on the desired result and the types of wrinkles that Mr Shaaban is addressing.

If an area begins to bleed after the injection, then pressure can be applied. Pressure is more effective for controlling bruising and bleeding than applying ice.
